============================================================================ A Cruel Edge: The Painful Truth About Today's Pornography - And What Men Can Do About It. By Robert Jensen, PH.D. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- A very interesting article. * Discusses the author's last 7 years of adult movie rentals and the direction it is taking. * Discusses 3 movies: Sopornos #4 Two in the Seat #3 Gag Factor #10 * 'At least our society still brands rape a crime'; 'Pornography, however, is sold to us as liberation'. * 'Why has cruelty become so sexualized in some men?' * They quote Jerome Tanner from AVN magazine: 'People just want it harder, harder and harder, because... what are you gonna do next?' (Jerome Tanner is now Lex T. Drill). * They quote Bella Donna from a television interviewer: 'You have to really prepare physically and mentally for it.' ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I really enjoyed this article and I recommend that all of the people involved in the adult industry buy the magazine and read it. It is good food for thought and it does say that the porno fight is not about sex, but rather the type of sex. They are not trying to censor porn, but rather to discuss the direction it has taken in the last 2 years. The last sentence is very telling, 'women count as much as men'. Note: This issue is sold now at Barnes and Noble and will be available at other stores on March 23, 2004. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Robert Jensen, PH.D.
